Why are my marketing emails landing in Gmail’s Promotions Tab?
Gmail tabs help organize incoming emails by delivering marketing & promotional emails to the Promotions tab, social media related emails to the Social tab and of course personal emails to the Primary Inbox.
Studies have shown that email engagement is better with the Promotions tab so having your Marketing emails land there is not a bad thing. And remember, not all Gmail recipients use or enable the tab features.
Gmail uses many factors to determine if emails are delivered to Promotions Tab, and Esendex has no control over Google’s ever-changing algorithms. If you are still keen on avoiding the Promotions Tab, here are some general tips that may help with your email placement:
• Personalise your email by greeting your recipients by name.
• Do not use a generic reply-to address (such as contact@, support@, and never use @no-reply). Use instead a personal reply-to address (yourname@).
• Keep images to a minimum.
• Use one or two links within your email, and the unsubscribe link is not counted as a link.
• Authenticate your sending domain with SPF & DKIM records.
Please note, Gmail’s algorithms are specific to each recipient. If your marketing email lands in the Primary inbox for one recipient, it has no effect on delivery for the next recipient.
